Introduction

The KitchenStar Pizza Cutter lineup includes 12″, 14″, 16″, and 18″ rocker-style slicers, each featuring a razor-sharp stainless-steel blade and an ergonomic handle. Models are offered in polished silver stainless steel and black non-stick-coated finishes, and several sport a comfortable beech wood handle. These long, curved “rocker” blades glide through any pizza crust with ease, ensuring clean, even slices. A protective blade cover is included for safe storage Thanks to their versatility, KitchenStar cutters can also tackle quesadillas, flatbreads, sandwiches and more, making them handy for any home kitchen.

Safety Information

  • Sharp Blade: The pizza cutter’s blade is extremely sharp. Always use caution when handling it. Keep the cutter (and its blade cover) well out of reach of children
  • Protective Cover: Always replace the included cover on the blade when the cutter is not in use. This prevents accidental cuts and protects the edge
  • Stable Surface: Use the cutter only on a stable surface (preferably a wooden or plastic cutting board) to prevent slips. Cutting on hard metal or stone surfaces can damage and quickly dull the blade
  • Proper Grip: Hold the cutter firmly with both hands on the handle, and press down with even body weight as you rock the blade through the pizza. Keep your fingers away from the cutting path.
  • Wood Handle Caution: Models with beech wood handles should not be run through the dishwasher (see Cleaning section). Repeated exposure to water and heat can warp the wood handle and loosen attachments. Inspect wooden handles regularly for any cracks or loosening, and contact KitchenStar support if defects appear.

Unboxing & Setup

  • Inspect the Package: Your cutter should arrive with the blade cover in place and any stickers or packaging removed from the blade and handle. In the box you’ll find the pizza cutter (blade and handle attached) and a user guide.
  • Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the blade and handle in warm soapy water and dry it thoroughly (see Cleaning). This removes any factory residues and ensures a hygienic start.
  • No Assembly Required: The cutters come fully assembled. Just remove any plastic wrap or protective film. Check that the blade cover fits snugly and that the handle is secure.
  • Handle Hanging Hole: The metal-handle models feature a hanging hole at the end for easy storage. You can hang the cutter on a kitchen hook by this hole.

Feature Demonstration (Cutting Pizza)

Follow these steps to cut pizza safely and effectively:

  1. Place the Pizza: Lay your cooked pizza flat on a sturdy cutting board. A wooden or plastic board is ideal for prolonging blade life
  2. Remove Cover: Take off the protective blade cover and set it aside where it won’t fall. Handle the blade by the blunt side or just by the handle.
  3. Position the Cutter: Grasp the cutter firmly with both hands, placing one hand on each end of the handle. Position the blade’s edge at the outer edge of the pizza.
  4. Rock the Blade: Apply even downward pressure and rock the cutter across the pizza in a confident, smooth motion. Let the weight of the cutter do the work, especially on thicker crusts
  5. Rotate and Continue: Slide the cutter back to the start, rotate the pizza (or the board), and repeat the rocking cut for as many slices as you need
  • For best results, cut straight down the crust.
  1. After Cutting: Once finished, clean off any stray crumbs and place the blade cover back on. Always store the cutter safely when not in use (see Storage).

Tip: For perfect slices, cut on a wooden or plastic board instead of stone or metalThis helps the blade stay sharper longer.

Cleaning

  • Hand Washing: Generally, clean the blade immediately after use. Use a soft sponge or cloth with mild dish soap and warm water to wipe the blade and handle
  • Avoid abrasive scrubbers that could scratch metal or damage a non-stick coating.
  • Dishwasher: Most all-metal (stainless steel) KitchenStar cutters are dishwasher safe due to their one-piece design. However, if your model has a black non-stick coating or a wooden handle, do not use the dishwasher. The harsh detergents and high heat can damage the coating and wood finish. When in doubt, hand wash: it’s quick and protects the cutter’s finish.
  • Drying: After washing, thoroughly dry the blade and handle with a clean towel or allow to air-dry. Moisture left on the blade can cause spotting or rust over time, especially on carbon-steel edges (if any). Always dry the cutter completely before storing.
  • Post-Cleaning: Once dry, reattach the blade cover and store the cutter as instructed below. Keeping the blade covered prevents accidental nicks to the edge or fingers

Storage

  • Blade Cover On: Always slide the protective cover onto the blade before storing the cutter
  • This shields the edge and prevents accidental cuts when reaching into drawers.
  • Hang or Drawer: Store the cutter in a clean, dry place. You can hang it by the handle hole or lay it flat in a utensil drawer. Ensure the blade is not touching other utensils to avoid dulling.
  • Keep Dry: Ensure the cutter is completely dry before long-term storage. Do not tuck it away while still damp. In humid environments, consider storing with a silica gel packet or in a sealed container to prevent corrosion.
  • Away from Children: Store the cutter out of children’s reach. Even with the cover on, it’s a sharp tool that should be handled by adults or supervised teens only.

Troubleshooting

  • Blade Won’t Cut: If the cutter starts slipping or slicing poorly, the blade may be dull. First, check that you’re using a proper cutting board and applying enough downward pressure. If it’s still not slicing cleanly, you can sharpen the blade using a standard kitchen knife sharpener or consult a professional sharpening service

(Note: some rocker cutters cannot be easily sharpened at home. In that case, contact KitchenStar for blade replacement options.)

  • Blade Rusting or Staining: Rust spots can occur if the cutter was left wet. To fix minor rust, gently scrub the spot with a baking soda paste (baking soda + water) and rinse thoroughly, then dry. To prevent future rust, always hand-dry the cutter immediately after washing.
  • Wood Handle Issues: Over time, wood handles may lose finish or develop tiny cracks. If the wood appears rough, you can lightly sand it and apply food-grade mineral oil. If the handle comes loose, stop using and contact support. Do not re-tighten screws yourself unless specified by the manufacturer.
  • Blade Cover Damage: If the plastic blade cover cracks or won’t stay on, replace it or store the cutter in another safe way. A loose cover could come off and expose the blade.
  • Noisy or Wobbly Cutter: If the rocker wobbles unsteadily, check for any screws or fittings (some models have a removable handle). Tighten any loose hardware per the manufacturer’s instructions. (See Assembly FAQs below if applicable.)
